Harmony in Doylestown: The Magic of A Simple Arrangement
There is something magical about the Doylestown music scene. It’s a community where historic charm meets modern creativity, and local venues pulse with rhythm every weekend. If you’ve spent any time wandering through our local music circuit, you’ve likely tapped your toes to one of our favorite local staples: A Simple Arrangement.
A Powerhouse Trio of Local Legends
While the group has built a reputation as one of Bucks County's premier acoustic-driven outfits, the true story lies in the world-class talent of its members—three former bandmates from the popular local rock band Rake.
- Jim Hines (Percussion & Vocals): A lifelong professional musician, Jim was a first-call studio drummer in Chicago before joining legendary artist Brian Wilson’s band in 1999. He has toured the world, recorded several albums, and is a Grammy Award winner for his work on the iconic record Smile.
- Jack Skudris (Lead Guitar & Vocals): A Berklee College of Music alumnus, Jack brings a lifetime of performance expertise to the stage. Whether he’s playing electric or acoustic guitar, his sophisticated skill set—honed through projects like BKWG and Rake—ensures a polished, professional sound.
- Jeff McCullough (Guitars & Vocals): A Doylestown resident for 35 years, Jeff is a staple of the local scene who has fronted bands like Aftershock and The Shack Daddys. In this trio, he has traded his electric gear for acoustic rhythm to focus on his passion for 1960s British Wave music.
The Vibe: Lush Harmonies & Nostalgia
A Simple Arrangement captures the raw nostalgia of a full-scale rock concert but delivers it with a gentler, acoustic touch. Their "superpower" is recreating the lush vocal harmonies of the 60s, paying homage to icons like The Beatles, The Eagles, and The Bee Gees. It’s the ultimate sonic sweet spot—lively enough to make you sing along, yet perfect for enjoying a conversation over cocktails.
Catch Them at Their New Home
A Simple Arrangement is continuing its Doylestown legacy at its new home: FROST. Whenever these three veterans plug in their guitars and step up to the microphones, you know you’re in for a soulful, tight, and authentic set.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer, grab a seat and let the harmonies sweep you away.
